Diana "Bhumi" Mahecha

Certified Yoga Instructor

Diana Mahecha (Bhumi) Bhumi was fortunate to be introduced to yoga at a very young age. In Middle school, for quality family time, her mom would take Bhumi and her siblings to a yoga studio in Charlotte. She learned about the internal practice of yoga before learning the physical practice. From an early age, Bhumi's goal with yoga was to "silence the mind". Her interest in yoga has grown throughout her life. Upon graduation from UNCC, in 2008, she spent five years traveling the world, expanding her horizons and deepening her knowledge about different types of yoga practices. In 2011, while backpacking for 13 months, Bhumi had the opportunity to teach in a variety of places around South America. During this time, she also did volunteer work at several Eco Yoga Farms, where she met Guru Paramadvaiti and was given her spiritual name "Bhumi Manjari." Upon returning to Charlotte in 2013, she immersed herself in the search for an authentic yoga practice. Bhumi's search led her to Andry Lappa, Mara Healy and Universal Yoga. She is currently completing a 300 hour Universal Yoga Training. Bhumi states, "Yoga is my safe haven. It is always there for me. I can take it anywhere." Her primary goal is to help her students use yoga as a system that helps them move beyond their own limitations, on every level of the mind, body and spirit. For Bhumi Yoga is a way of life, not just a physical exercise. It is an energy that reaches us at our very core, allowing us to be more mindful of how we interact with ourselves and those around us. p>
